Commentary From the Trading Desk

July was really successful considering how tough the markets were. The Trading Team averaged around a 2% Gross Premium, with a peak up to 3.3%. Our clients made as much as 2.5%. Tough trading conditions continued around challenging political and economic events both locally and abroad. We believe we continue to outperform our competition by 20-30%.
Political influence had a positive impact on crypto markets with Trump showing his pro-crypto attitude around the world. The recent launch of the Black Rock Ether ETF has been a huge success, complimenting their earlier launch of their BTC ETF, attracting both retail and institutional investors.
The ZAR has also weakened against the USD over the month of July and is continuing on this trend, while all risk assets are massively down. With all this being said, we believe that the Premium should open and provide much opportunity for some consistent trading around the 2% Gross Premium mark.

At the time of writing, Global Markets are experiencing turbulence on the back of various macro indicators(US jobs & tech stocks), as such investor confidence is in the balance. These conditions will likely provide exciting entry points and opportunities.

Update on Capitec Fees:

Capitec is now imposing a R50 admin fee which will be added to each individual's arbitrage trade deducted before arb payout. This fee has been implemented at a bank level to cater for the additional admin pertaining to arbitrage related deals.
